In July 2023, Stan Sport broadcast the Rugby World Cup in a combination of live on-the-ground crosses, and full studio production hosted out Nine’s North Sydney Studio A. This package design was supplied by World Rugby, and the internal Nine Viz team replicated the look for a full ENPS rundown to be used across the six week tournament. The suite of graphics included data-driven stats which could be used in on-screen graphics, studio set graphics, and augmented reality (AR) graphics. It was a large undertaking for a one off event, with almost 70 templates created, and 100s of graphics used across the tournament
The AR graphics were the show piece of the studio coverage, allowing talent to spotlight players and moments throughout the tournament. These graphics were all controlled using ENPS to allow producers to populate them via rundowns as per any other normal graphic. The AR rig was plug-and-play which allowed the technical directors to simply turn on the Stype RedSpy system kicked into its calibrated setup, and graphics clicked into place.
